We mix EPDM rubber granules with a UV stable polyurethane binder and trowel it right over your existing concrete. What is poured-in-place rubber flooring?
Poured-in-place rubber, sometimes called poured rubber or PIP rubber, is a mix of EPDM rubber granules and a UV stable polyurethane binder that gets troweled on site into a single seamless surface. It's the same category of material used on playgrounds and running tracks, finished here for pool decks, patios and stairs.
Can poured rubber be installed over my existing concrete?
In most cases, yes. We pressure wash, patch cracks and grind down any lips in your existing concrete, then pour the rubber surface directly over it. There's no need to demo or haul away your old slab.
Is poured rubber decking slippery when wet?
No. The finish is open and textured on purpose, so it stays slip resistant right up to the pool coping even when it's soaking wet, which is why it's a common choice around pools, splash pads and locker rooms.
Does poured rubber flooring crack during Chicago winters?
Poured rubber is flexible by nature, so it moves with the freeze thaw cycle instead of cracking like rigid concrete. We pour into fall as long as the weather cooperates.
How long does poured rubber surfacing last?
With a fresh topcoat sealer every few years to protect against UV fading, most poured rubber surfaces hold up well for a decade or more of regular pool and patio use.
